13th Annual Ride to Gettysburg

Back in 1997 we published a little handbook that gave an overview of our accomplishments starting with 1983 up until 1997. It was interesting to note that the second entry under ABATE Activities was for May 20, 1985 at which time ABATE of PA presented a $500 check to Representative Joseph Pitts for the Capitol Preservation Committee “Save the Flags” campaign. The flag we restored was the 5th Pennsylvania Reserves, formed in June 1861, was one of the regiments of the PA Reserve Corps that was raised by the state to defend Pennsylvania from rebel forces. The Reserves participated in multiple battles, including the second battle of Bull Run and Antietam. At Gettysburg the Regiment occupied Big Round Top during the evening of July 2, 1863 and held it.

“Let’s Roll” - Join us for this memorial ride to Shanksville

On the morning of 9/11/2001, hijacked Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, PA killing 40 innocent passengers aboard. "LET'S ROLL" are the last words heard from Todd Beamer, one among many passengers who bravely stormed the hijackers in the cockpit and prevented the terrorists from targeting another Washington, D.C. site.
