Join Us on September 26, 2009 for the Ride to Gettysburg
For the past several years we have joined together with our friend Representative Harry Readshaw and lent our support to the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association to raise funds to repair and restore all the monuments in Gettysburg that were erected to honor the soldiers of Pennsylvania.
All chapters have been asked to make a financial contribution to the ride. Every contribution of $100 or more will be recognized with a certificate of appreciation. Those that max the $500 mark will receive a special flag in recognition of outstanding support for Readshaw’s Raiders.
A special invitation has been sent to Lt. Governor Joe Scarnati inviting him to be the grand marshal of this years parade. The Lt. Governor is an avid motorcyclist and a supporter of A.B.A.T.E. of PA. In addition, Representative Jim Marshall will be riding in from Beaver County and Representative Dan Moul from Adams County will also participate with us.
This years ride is on Saturday, September 26 and leaves Commonwealth Avenue behind the state capitol at 1:00 PM. This ride has been kept very affordable at just $10 for each rider and passenger. Participants receive a special collector pin and also a chicken dinner when they arrive at Battlefield H-D.
As always we need good riders to step up and volunteer to be road guards along the route. This does not go unrewarded. When we get to Gettysburg the volunteers get to go to the front of the chow line and be served first. Our way of saying thanks for insuring that we all arrive safely. If you can volunteer, call either Brian Howard at 717-566-9883 who has agreed to coordinate the road guard effort or call the A.B.A.T.E. office and we will pass the info onto Brian.
Those who have made the ride know what a great day it is. Those who haven’t are encouraged to find out for themselves what a good time we have at this event. Guaranteed to make everyone smile no matter what. I look forward to riding with all of you on the 26th.
