After what seems like a long dry spell one of our ABATE bills is on its way to the Governor for his signature. The bill previously back on March 11, 2019 passed the House on a final vote of 193-0. We did not encounter a single no vote on this piece of legislation.
Nice work by Representative Kail (R-15) Beaver & Washington County, who is a freshman legislator and this is his first bill to get passed.
According to data from the Administrative Office of PA Courts, there were 1,002 convictions for violations relating to classes of licenses in 2017.
So let this serve as notice that if you are a motorcyclist and do not have the proper endorsement ďMĒ on your license you better get it squared away before you get caught and have to pay a $200 fine.
In other interesting news, the Patriot News today reported that a bright spot in the 2018 statistics was the fact that motorcycle fatalities dropped to 164 in 2018, which was a fourteen year low. We must be doing something right out there and donít forget that all fourteen of those years are years that we have enjoyed freedom of choice in the use of helmets since that law was modified in 2003.
Now letís get busy on getting motorcycles included in the PA Automobile Lemon Law. It looks like we picked up a lot of support for this issue at the Motorcyclists Rights Rally and also Senator Michelle Brooks is going to introduce a Senate Bill to get motorcycles included in the lemon law.
