MRF DECEMBER 2020 Update
Submitted by Andy Kelly
Due to the Covid-19 virus, our Leadership and Legislative Seminar will be postponed until spring of 2021. Hopefully by that time we’ll be able to go forward with it. For those who normally bring their chapter and personal renewals to the seminar, I ask you to please mail them to the MRF office. The MRF mailing address is:
PO Box 250

I will miss seeing and talking to everyone about the MRF and what’s going on in Washington D.C.
I am writing this days before the election and I don't think a clear cut winner will be settled immediately. But as far as we are concerned, the most important elections will be in congress. We need our motorcycle-friendly members of congress to help introduce and pass motorcycle legislation.
The House of Representatives will have to take up the Transportation Bill again sometime in 2021, being there was only a one year extension added to it in 2020. We will need to be sure that all the safeguards for Motorcycles that were added into the Transportation Bill passed by the House of Representatives and never looked at by the Senate in 2020 remain in the new Transportation Bill.
We all need to support the MRF to insure that the next Highway Bill will include the ban on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) lobbying in Harrisburg for a stronger helmet law. We need to support the MRF as its members fight for reauthorization of the Motorcycle Advisory Council. We need to support the MRF’s fight to maintain the ban on federal funds being used for “Motorcycle only Checkpoints” and the ban on using federal funds to “profile and stop motorcycle operators or passengers using as a factor the apparel they are wearing or the mode of transportation”.
Your Membership in the MRF and your readiness to get involved with calls to action will help insure that the MRF can continue to defend and fight for your freedom for years to come.
