Challenges facing motorcyclist in the near future!

A.B.A.T.E. of PA

Looking towards the future.

A.B.A.T.E. of PA is not solely concerned with the issues facing PA motorcyclists today.  We closely watch and monitor events and legislation concerning motorcyclists in other states, Washington DC and around the globe.  Experience tells us that we will soon face issues, restrictions and loss of rights here at home if other states pass legislation or regulate in a certain matter.

Some of the most worrisome changes we see happening are these:

  1. Banning of combustion engines in all off highway vehicles.
  2. Over restrictive sound ordanances.
  3. Banning the modification of motorcycles from OEM specifications.
  4. Improper or non labeling of E15 gasoline (15% ethanol fuel that is very harmful to motorcycles)
  5. Limited availability of 10% or less ethanol fuels.
  6. End of life laws. (Your vehicles older than 15-20 years, if not registered and insured will be confiscated.)

Educating and Protecting Motorcyclists in Pennsylvania since 1983

A.B.A.T.E. of PA is an alliance of bikers dedicated to protecting the individual rights of motorcyclists through political change, charitable works, and public education. Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education or A.B.A.T.E. has been working towards motorcycle awareness and helping motorists since 1983. We started out as an effort to get freedom of choice concerning helmets, but we are so much more than that.  In addition to our legislative efforts, our chapters raise tens of thousands of dollars for local charities.

Operation Save a Life is one of our education programs.  We present OSAL to high school audiences and driver education settings to teach motorists how to be aware of motorcycles and safely share the road with us.

Our Mission

An alliance of bikers dedicated to the protection of the individual rights of motorcyclists through political change, charitable works and public education.

Serving Members Since 1983

From 1903 to the 1960s, the motorcycling community was internally focused. There were efforts, especially on the AMA's part, to present a positive image of motorcycling to the public. There was little emphasis on political activity by motorcyclists. The idea of motorcyclists actually banding together and influencing legislation wasn't part of the landscape yet.

Since 1983, A.B.A.T.E. of PA has represented the interests of motorcyclists riding Pennsylvania's roads. Through a variety of programs, A.B.A.T.E. is working to protect and preserve the rights of over 800,000 licensed motorcyclists and the untold tens of thousands of riders who enjoy the variety of off-road recreational opportunities available. Regardless of whether you enjoy touring, cruising, trail riding or racing, A.B.A.T.E. of PA is here to serve you. Your help and support are needed to protect and promote your right to ride.
